My Philosophy
Every horse deserves to be listened to.
No two horses are the same. Some welcome touch straight away; others need time, reassurance and space to make their own choices.
I work at the horse's pace, paying attention to subtle changes in posture, expression and behaviour. This is especially important for nervous, sensitive or previously mistreated horses, but it matters for every horse I treat.
Good bodywork is not about pushing through a session. It is about knowing when to continue, when to adapt and when to stop.
“It's not about getting through a treatment. It's about listening to the horse in front of you.”
What I Offer
My Treatments
Individualised sessions that combine hands-on assessment and appropriate techniques to support your horse's comfort and movement.
Equine Sports & Rehabilitation Massage
Hands-on techniques tailored to your horse's muscular needs, comfort, mobility and stage of work or recovery.

PhysioKey
Bioadaptive neurostimulation used as part of a considered treatment plan, particularly when a horse finds direct manual work difficult.

Therapeutic Ultrasound
A targeted modality that may be incorporated when appropriate, with veterinary guidance where required.

Treatments complement, rather than replace, veterinary diagnosis and care. Treatment choice depends on the individual horse and any relevant contraindications.

About Me
My name is Gemma.
I'm a fully qualified and insured Equine Sports & Rehabilitation Massage Therapist, and a member of the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT).
With a lifetime of experience around horses and an educational background spanning equine care, human and equine sports massage and health sciences, I bring a broad understanding of anatomy, biomechanics and movement to every treatment.
My approach combines hands-on massage, myofascial techniques and specialist equipment, including Physiokey and therapeutic ultrasound, to provide individually tailored bodywork.
I have a particular interest in working with nervous, sensitive and previously mistreated horses. I believe that understanding a horse's behaviour and emotional responses is just as important as recognising physical tension.
My aim is simple: to combine professional knowledge with patience and understanding, helping every horse feel heard, comfortable and supported.
A Special Interest
Nervous, sensitive & anxious horses
A horse does not have to stand perfectly still or accept every technique to benefit from a considerate approach. I allow time to build trust and adapt each visit to what the horse is comfortable with.
Not just for competition horses
Leisure horses, older horses and horses returning to work may also benefit from appropriately tailored bodywork. When injury or rehabilitation is involved, I work within veterinary guidance.

Wow what can I say??? Amazing just amazing. My horse Sid had a rough start in life and seems to be on high alert most of the time. Gemma spent time just standing with him, no rush. Gradually Sid became interested in Gemma and let her work her magic. Over the 4 sessions the difference in Sid was heart warming. Thank you Gemma and we will see you soon xx

Thanks so much for taking your time with my girls and for your insight. I just wish we got a pic of how much Reece enjoyed your loving hands. It was a pleasure to have you.

I can’t recommend Knead Supple Muscles enough. Gemma is calm, patient and really takes the time to listen to the horse. Her gentle, horse-led approach helps them relax and feel comfortable, and you can really see the difference after a treatment. Professional, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about helping horses feel their best. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Gemma she has treated our little show cob and made him more comfortable where he had previously been sore. Gemma is super kind and caring about every horses needs. Our pony is far more soft and relaxed in the ring after he has had his massage previous to competion.

Gemma came out to my daughter’s pony after he had finished box rest for an injury (vet had agreed). She worked wonders on him finding lots of sore/tight spots and made him feel so much better that he showed it the next day! She also gave my daughter some suggestions to help him stay more supple than he normally is.
